Hyundai Mini 45 EV Puts Emotions in Motion

About Hyundai Mini 45 EV

Putting emotions in motion brings a question to the mind of people, ‘How do you put your emotions in motion?’. Well, the Hyundai Motor Company has brought to the people details of its one-of-a-kind mini EV based on the ‘45’ concept car. The name comes from another concept car built 45 years ago.

The company has unveiled this project in a short film, posted on YouTube. It has created a 6-minute video showing how the minicar uses Emotion Adaptive Vehicle Control (EAVC) Technology to support young patients at the SJD Barcelona Children’s Hospital in Spain as part of the ‘Little Big e-Motion’ project.

The company has developed a Hyundai mini which is leading the next generation technology as part of an academic research collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Media Lab. This technology has the facility of emotion recognition. The young driver can interact with the mini EV through five technologies which are AI-based -Facial Emotion/Expression Recognition System, Breathing Exercise Belt, Heart Rate Monitoring Sensor, Emotion Adaptive Lighting, and Emotion Adaptive Scent Dispenser.

The technology used in Hyundai Mini

The mini Hyundai combines the readings of face, heart, and respiratory with input from the vehicle including speed, acceleration, noise, and vibration, and then processes the data utilizing machine learning to optimize the vehicle environment and actively controls vehicle systems such as lighting, climate, music, and fragrance dispenser. The EV( Electronic Vehicle) motor is presently in high demand as a green alternative to the Internal Combustion Engine(ICE) Vehicle.

You can easily operate these mini motor cars using an electric motor powered by battery energy. However, using these EV motors for treatment procedures is not a new topic. But the small Hyundai does way more than that for the youngsters who are scared of being in the hospital for whichever reason. The Hyundai mini uses adaptive emotions to take the young patient’s mind off the worries. An underside lighting system is installed in the mini motor car which glows red to show if the child is concerned and green if they are feeling happier.

Origin of Hyundai Motor Company

Hyundai Motor America addresses its main office at 10550 Talbert Ave, Fountain Valley, CA 92708, United States. The company has been selling cars in the USA since 1986. With time it has expanded its market to various other countries. You can trust  Hyundai with its quality, design, and manufacturing. The vehicle they produce is the result of their long-term research. After tying up with Honda for the initial brand quality, Hyundai has become second in the world in terms of vehicle quality.

Like the mini ‘45’, Hyundai has also launched an electric car in India. The Hyundai KONA Electric has become India’s First Real Electric SUV which comes with a 100kW DC fast charger that can charge the SUV up to 80 percent in just 54 minutes. It has two powertrain options that offer different power outputs and different driving ranges.

The short-range variant is powered by a 39.2kWh battery pack which provides you with a driving range of 300km while the long-range variant is powered by a 64kWh battery pack that provides a driving range of 450km. The Kona EV is a brilliant effort made by Hyundai to offer an electric car at an accessible price. The cost of Kona Electric is estimated to be between 25-30 lakhs.

How Hyundai Mini works

What Hyundai describes as emotion is energy in motion. It has used the process of emotion contagion where a person or group influences the emotion of another person or group. An onboard computer-animated avatar has been introduced in the mini EV to connect with the patient. It uses tools like colorful animations, happy machines, and a bubble-blowing machine to reduce the emotional stress of the patient. The mini EV gives a ride to the patients from their hospital bed to their treating room. It has also been listed as the smartest vehicle to date.

Final words

Yet, people are still in doubt regarding the manipulation of emotions using robots. Since technology has become very persuasive in our lives, we have robots to monitor our bodies. Hyundai’s mini 45 might be a cute little thing, but the ambitious questions that have raised give us pause.
